Solar Panel Relocation, Engineered — Not Just Moved

Panels get moved for good reasons: a room addition, a new AC unit throwing shade, a re-roof that changes the layout, or a move to a new house. The move itself is the easy part. Where the panels land decides what they produce for the next 20 years — so we do the production math before anyone touches a wrench.

  • Production modeled before and after — you see the kWh difference in writing
  • New mounts flashed and sealed — 100% money-back no-leak guarantee
  • Permits and utility interconnection updates handled where required
  • 10-year workmanship warranty on every nut, bolt and electrical connection we touch

Relocation

Why placement is the whole job

Aerial view of an Arizona home with solar arrays on multiple roof planes
Same house, different roof planes, very different production. The move is cheap; the placement decision is valuable.

In Arizona, a south-facing panel and the same panel facing north-east can differ in output by a quarter or more, and a panel that spends its afternoons in the shade of a parapet or a new AC condenser can quietly lose you more than the relocation cost. So before we move anything, we model it: current placement versus proposed, tilt and azimuth, shading through the day and the seasons. You get the expected production difference in numbers, in writing — sometimes the honest answer is that the move is not worth it, and we will tell you that too.

The common relocation jobs

Every relocation is a mini detach & reset

Old mounts come out and those penetrations get sealed; new mounts go in flashed and sealed to spec; the system is re-strung, re-commissioned and production-verified. Same crews, same standards, same no-leak guarantee and 10-year workmanship warranty as everything else we do.

Permits, paperwork and the parts nobody mentions

Re-strung, re-commissioned, verified. A relocation is not done when the panels are bolted down — it is done when the production number checks out.

Moving an array changes the drawings your permit and utility interconnection were approved on. Same-roof moves often need a permit revision; house-to-house moves always do. We handle the jurisdiction and utility paperwork where required, update the rapid-shutdown and labeling to match the new layout, and close with a production test against the model — so the number we promised is the number you got.

Pricing is per panel plus the engineering, quoted exactly and free from your address, panel count and photos of both locations (or both roof planes). The cost model works the same way as our other roof work — honest factors, exact same-day quote, and the quote is the invoice.

Detach & Reset
★★★★★

“The team was on time and completed the work in one day. They found wiring issues during the Detach phase and rewired the solar panels to bring it up to code during the Reset. We are very happy about that service!”

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — it is one of our standard jobs. Old mounts come out and get sealed, new mounts go in flashed to spec, the array is re-strung and re-commissioned, and production is verified against the model we showed you before the work. Backed by our no-leak guarantee and 10-year workmanship warranty.
Physically yes; whether it is worth it depends on the equipment. At the new address the work is treated as a new installation — permit, engineering and utility interconnection — and panels near the end of their warranty may not justify the labor. We price the move and the honest alternative side by side so you can decide.
Almost always — that is usually the point. Orientation, tilt and shading drive production, and we model the before-and-after in kWh so the decision is made on numbers. If a proposed move would lose you production, we say so before you spend anything.
Usually yes. The array position is part of your permit and interconnection approval, and moving it without updating them can bite you at sale time or on an insurance claim. We handle the revisions where the jurisdiction and utility require them.
On string systems especially, shade on part of an array can drag down more than the shaded panels. Moving the affected panels is often the cheapest production fix there is. A $199 diagnostic quantifies exactly what the shade is costing you first.
Per panel plus engineering and any permit revisions, quoted exactly and free the same business day from your address, panel count and photos. The best-value version is doing it during a re-roof, when the panels are already coming off.
